The Lüneburger Heide

Heather Flowers

Northern Germany is beautiful. It is in many ways a perfect gateway between Europa and Scandinavia. Some of the charm is due to the fact that it flies under the radar: It is not part of the European circuit that attracts so many compulsive selfie-takers and sight-collectors (and their hideous selfie-sticks and selfie-stuff). Visitors don't usually come here to strike a pose near a tower or a monument that they have seen in post cards nor to take a look at a work of art made popular by the current best-seller. This beauty here is quiet and understated. Still somewhat of a well-kept secret.
